Becoming a Member

One of the central themes of the Bible is the idea of being connected.  The letters of the New Testament often stress the unity and strength of believers who publicly came together under one confession.

Membership at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is much the same.  After a study of God's Word, people from all walks of life, races, and generations confess, "This is what we believe."  That's why being a member at Trinity is more than a signature on a piece of paper; it's a standing together with others on the rock of God's truth.

So how do you become a member of Trinity?  That depends on your background in the Christian faith.  You may be new to the teachings of the Bible and need time to ask plenty of questions about sin, grace, faith, baptism, and more.  You may just be transferring from another church in our fellowship (WELS/ELS) and need a simple letter of transfer.  Or maybe you have experience with another Christian denomination and wonder about the differences and similarities.

Since every individual is different in their knowledge of the Bible and their life experience, it's best to contact us with your questions.  You can call the church office at 985-892-4880.

In general, however, those who don't come to Trinity from a similar denomination attend our Bible Instruction Class.  Please contact us regarding specific dates and times.  We'd love to study God's Word with you and grow together, connected to one common faith.

Bible Instruction Class

Jesus once said, “These are the Scriptures that testify about me” (John 5:39b). Bible Information Class is a review of the main teachings of God’s Word, centering on Jesus Christ. This class is for people interested in becoming members of Trinity, or for people just looking to build their faith through the study of the Scriptures. Classes are scheduled at different intervals throughout the year.

Receiving members by Transfer

Friends who are already members of another WELS congregation are to contact their home church and request a "Letter of Transfer" to Trinity.
